Russian/Balkan artist. H. Maikowsky, gouache on paper. Landscape composition with stylised trees and a water motif, executed in gouache with a subdued and atmospheric palette. The composition is painterly, with lightly abstracted forms and a clear horizontal structure. Material: Paper, gouache. Dimensions: Visual size 17 × 24 cm, total size 25 × 32 cm. Period: 1920s. Condition: In good condition with minor age-related and handling wear. Framed behind glass. Bio: Gouache was a widely used medium among artists in the early 20th century, employed both for independent works and as studies. The technique combines the lightness of watercolour with a more opaque colour effect, making it particularly suitable for atmospheric landscapes and compositions with soft transitions and muted tonal ranges.
